Rwandan cooperatives have been established by state law and have been given clear mandates as the voices of members through advocacy. They have been given opportunity to trade and get profit for the benefit of their members. The cooperatives operate under the stewardship of Rwanda Cooperative Agency; a body established by government law to oversee and guide the operations of cooperative unions in the country. RCA provides necessary guidance on establishments, management controls, business development initiatives, financial assistance and capacity building/trainings for managers, boards and members of cooperatives
